Welcome to another ‘Scenario Saturday’!

Last week we looked at the ultimate ODI scenario of the 1990s to the 2010s: the greatest finishers of all time versus the best bowlers at the death.

This week, we turn our attention to the Test scene.

One of the most common questions that gets asked in the Fantasy Cricket sphere is who you, as a fan, would want to bat for your life (in Test cricket).

Batting for your life‘ can take many forms. It could be a situation where you need to pick a batter to score the most runs and take down the opposition’s best bowlers. And it could mean picking someone you think would simply be unreal to watch.

Former Indian captain, batting legend, and ex-Team India coach, Rahul Dravid, once said he would pick Sachin Tendulkar to bat for his life. The late leg-spinning genius from Australia, Shane Warne, also mentioned he would send Tendulkar out to bat for him.

But ‘batting for your life‘ can also mean choosing someone that occupies the crease for hours, not giving an inch, and refusing to give their wicket away if a draw is needed.

Someone that gives off that ‘over my dead body‘ aura.

For example, the record-shattering southpaw from the West Indies, Brian Lara, felt that Rahul Dravid would be the batter he wanted to bat for his life.

SCENARIO SATURDAY #2

Picture this.

4-match Test series stands at 1-1. The 3rd Test has not gone your way, but you have a chance on Day 5 to salvage a draw and give yourself a chance to win the 4th and deciding Test match next week.

Oh, and if you win the series, you go to the top of the rankings.

With it all on the line, which of these 6 batters would you choose to see you through to the end of this Test with a draw?

Tune in every weekend for a chance to have your say on the ‘Scenario Saturday’ polls!
